Who we are
We are a collective of dedicated individuals committed to empowering vulnerable communities in northern Cameroon.
Established in 2022, HISMA Association was co-founded by individuals with a profound understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable communities in northern Cameroon, including one of the co-founders, an experienced eye surgeon. Witnessing the detrimental effects of traditional medicine on eye health due to a lack of awareness and resources, we initiated impactful eye surgery campaigns in collaboration with other organizations, ensuring essential eye care services for those in need.
Recognizing the shortage of community healthcare workers (CHWs) in the region, we implemented a comprehensive training and employment program to empower these individuals and extend vital support to underserved communities. This initiative not only fortified the local healthcare infrastructure but also facilitated our outreach to remote areas, providing essential healthcare services where they were needed the most.
Driven by encounters with underprivileged children struggling to afford medical treatment, we established a scholarship program focused on education. Our program not only offers financial support but also encourages academic excellence by setting passing grade requirements, fostering a culture of learning and ambition among the region’s youth.
